Melodica

What’s this musical instrument?

The elementary students in school bring everyday this “blow-organ” and I wonder what this instrument called. Now, I know. It’s a melodica. It’s small, light, and portable. It’s popular in music education, especially here in Thailand. It’s a free-reed aerophone which, at its simplest, is a small piano with a mouthpiece. It is a fairly easy instrument to learn and is more affordable than many other instruments.

Few years from now my Hyzyd will soon learn how to play this musical instrument. They said it’s easy to learn melodica. Isn’t it too late for me? Maybe my brother who has some experience playing the piano will aid me in learning to play the melodica. The melodica can create sounds that suit almost any genre. What I need is to find my own combination of styles, and use the instrument to its full potential.

Here’s a video of how melodica is played and sounds:

On the other hand, if you wanted to experience a luxurious lifestyle with your bathroom consider installing your own wet room in your home. A Wet Room is a waterproofed (tanked) room usually equipped with a walk in shower. The wet room itself becomes the shower enclosure, with a shower drain inset into a gently sloped floor in place of a conventional shower tray. With a wet room, it helps protect your building from moisture damage and leaks, prolongs the life of your tiles and grout and level access floor – assists less-abled showering. Wet rooms design can be creative or simplistic, there are plenty of ways in which to work with the building and still achieve the wet room of your dreams.

If you want to design and install your own wet room without having to spend tons of money on a professional, buy wet room kits. This is the perfect solution to any “do-it-yourself-er”. These kits provide a comprehensive step by step guide to your wet room design, from how to prepare your room and creating the slopes right through to tanking and tips for tiling and sanitary ware. While most of the time DIYers are required to study up intensively on their projects in order to get the best results, these kits allow for a quicker solution. As they already outline the project guidelines and provide information on types of tools and materials needed to accomplish your goals, you are not required to spend as much time sifting through online guides or books.

New Year’s Tips for Better Living

Here are twenty tips for better living in the New Year from actsweb.org which inspires me to follow:

1. Rise and pray every day: “Again today, dear God, I commit and trust my life and way to you. I’m available. Please use me to be ‘as Jesus’ to every life I touch.”
2. Don’t sweat the small stuff.
3. Remember these simple sentences: “I was wrong.” “I am sorry.” “Please forgive me.” “Thank you.” Say them whenever needed and say “I love you” often—whether needed or not.
4. Come apart and rest a while before you come apart—stress is a killer.
5. Remember, “Nothing changes if nothing changes.”
6. Don’t nurse grudges: “Failing to forgive is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.”
7. Carpe diem. Seize the day. “Opportunity comes to pass—not to pause.”
8. Quit the blame-game—”choice, not chance, determines destiny.”
9. Control your thinking or your thinking will control you. “What the mind dwells on the body acts on.”
10. Invest your life in a worthwhile cause by having a noble purpose for which to live—one that is bigger than yourself—one that will help make your world a better place in which to live.
11. Be a positive realist. You will always see what you are looking for: “Two men look out the same prison bars. One sees mud, the other stars.”
12. The greatest abilities are availability, dependability, and responsibility.”
13. “There is no pillow as soft as a clear conscience.”
14. “Smooth seas never make skillful sailors.”
15. When God is silent. “I believe in the sun even when it isn’t shining. I believe in love even when I am alone. I believe in God even when he is silent.”
16. Cry when needed. “Every unshed tear is a prism through which all of life’s hurts are distorted.”
17. Laugh a lot. It’s still the best medicine.
18. Remember, “The bumps are what we climb on.”
19. Fear not. At least 95 percent of the things we fear never happen. Trust God for the other five percent.
20. Have faith and put God first with your time, talents, and tithe (money).

On year 2012, I will let God and His Words reign in my heart: “Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.” Psalm 37:3-6 (NIV).

Tips to consider in beautifying your home

It’s a dream for every family to have their own home to spend a lifetime. A home that is clean and systematic. With a home like this, how efficient, beautiful and fulfilling it will be for every family to stay. Gone are the days when a tired and hassled person of the house could live in a cluttered house. Now we deserve everything better at an affordable prize to make our home the most beautiful place in the world.

For me, a home isn’t complete if one of the following combinations is lacking: living room, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and a sleek small garden. You can now beautify your living room with affordable accessories either made out of steel, plastic or coated wires. What makes the living room more appealing is your choice of furniture. You can choose Amish oak furniture if you’re looking for quality furniture that’s built to last. When you are buying furniture buy according to your living rooms size to get enough free space. It should be affordable to you and at the same time exhibit quality. Avoid built-in furniture as it restricts mobility and creativity. Decorate with pots, paintings and change the upholstery like curtains and sofa fabrics once in a while.

Polish the bedroom with decorative schemes that include a strong complementary color on accessories. You can also create and customize photograph frames or fabric with unexpected energy colors. Create an impact for your bedroom with sleek curtains and candles. Pick fresh flower bunch and put them into a crystal cocktail glass. You can use a flame candle and light holders to give a peaceful ambience in your home.

The kitchen is a place where love emanates, where affection simmers and care takes a delicious shape. In today’s world where everything is getting modern sleek and highly functional, why should the kitchen be left behind? The first thing that puts most people off when getting a modular kitchen is the cost. To justify the expense, let’s use the analogy of buying a new car. You would spend about the same amount on a car which will depreciate in about three year while the life of your kitchen is at least 15 years. Getting a modular kitchen has become a lot simpler then what it used to be say 5 years ago.

Make a small garden in an area where there is adequate sunlight pouring in. Decorate your home with the perfect marriage of light and space at an affordable cost because it represents your living style.
