Good Morning Girls

I just sign up myself for the Good Morning Girls email list so that I could stay in touch with other Christian moms.

What Are Good Morning Girls?

“Good Morning Girls” are a group of Christian women who email, Facebook, twitter or text messaging to keep each other accountable for their quiet times. I joined this group for a Bible Study online. I miss Bible Study. Here in Thailand, I couldn’t join because I don’t know Thai language yet and no one in the group could translate the lesson to English.

Here is a wonderful freebie I get from Confession of a Homeschooler that can help us get started praying specifically for our husband: 31 days of praying for your husband.

How to Make Your Children be Proud Of You

The famous biographer Boswell tells of a day when his busy father took him fishing. Later when he read what his dad wrote in his journal, he was devastated: “Went fishing with my son; a day wasted!” If you want your children to be proud of you:

1) Protect them. Guard them physically when they’re young, and emotionally as they mature. Teach your son to respect girls, and interview the guys who date your daughter. Be sure to check out what they (and you) watch on TV, and especially the increasingly dangerous influences of the internet.

2) Listen to them. Don’t be like the kid who told his mum, “I’m gonna be just like dad when I grow up. My eyebrows are already growing together, and when people talk to me I don’t listen.” Listening builds a lifetime bridge to your child’s heart.

3) Be affectionate with them. Nothing builds security and self-worth in your kids like holding them. If you grew up without expressions of affection, make sure they don’t.

4) Discipline them. But go one step further, model self-discipline in your own life. Don’t just preach, live it!

5) Be fun to be around. Show your children your lighter side. Don’t be so preoccupied with work or church that you’re a bore. “A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance…” (Proverbs 15:13 NKJV).

6) ‘Walk the walk.’ Former atheist Lee Strobel says: “When I became a Christian my five-year-old daughter said, ‘Mummy, I want God to do for me what He’s done for daddy,’” and she gave her life to Jesus. Make Christ attractive to your children, and they will be drawn to Him.

Scrubs for the family

The next time your family will be invited for costume party, why not don yourselves with medical scrubs like this one I found online:

Yes, blue sky scrubs™ got one for little ones, too! How cute is that. You can have this uniform even if you’re not on medical field. I have this crazy idea of wearing something like this while teaching preschool. I’m sure it will be totally comfortable and relaxing while chasing little ones! If children wear this, it’s like pajama time for them. It’s comfortable enough for relaxing and durable enough for playing. Oh well, I wonder if there’s a preschool who will consider this idea.

Happy Weekend!

It’s Sunday but we stayed at home instead of going to church because my boy’s not feeling well.

Let me share to you a lesson I grasped from my meditation:

Since God designed you with all the built-in qualifications you need, you don’t have to compromise your convictions, manipulate, drop names or do special favors. The part is yours! And don’t be jealous or intimidated by anybody else no matter how talented they are. In God’s eyes there are no other contenders; you’re it! You’re the only one who can fill the slot because He created it with you in mind. When you feel insecure and unqualified, remind yourself of that.
